Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Operations Technician (Project Employee) to be part of Virginia-North District.  As an Operations Technician at Williams, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting on projects as well as the handling of natural gas as related to natural gas compression and interstate pipelines along with the maintenance and troubleshooting of all related subsystems. This position will be based in Unionville, VA but may perform duties across the assigned district (Scottsville, Unionville & Manassas).

 

Note: The chosen candidate will be a Project employee, which means he or she will be hired for the duration of local projects with an estimated end date of Spring 2019.  However, the ultimate end date will depend on a variety of factors.  This position is not severance eligible.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support construction activities by issuing Hot Work Permits and handling gas to ensure a safe working environment for all parties.
  • Handle facility encroachment activities which include pipe location, excavation, and inspection which result from one-call notifications and/or direct calls.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and possess adequate PC skills.
  • Interact with technical services, government agencies, emergency planning committees, emergency responders, landowners, and contractors.
  • After hour work as needed and routine on-call rotations are mandatory with some out of area travel requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Possess a high school diploma
  • Demonstrate an intermediate knowledge level of Operations within an oil and gas industry.
  • Be willing to work after hours, on-call rotations nights, and weekend shifts
  • Provide the ability to work both in a team setting and as an individual with minimal supervision
  • Possess a valid state driving license and an excellent driving record
  • Demonstrate safety as the utmost priority
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with government agencies, landowners, and contractors
  • Participate in Williams’ Operations Technician Progression Program
  • Have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and PC Skills
  • Be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for long periods of time
  • Be able to carry and lift items that can weigh 50lbs or more
  • Be willing to work in extremely hot and cold temperatures

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess an Associates’ or two (2) year degree in mechanical, instrumentation, and/or related field
  • 5+ years Operations experience within the oil and gas industry; ability to demonstrate an intermediate to advanced knowledge level of Operations experience within the oil and gas industry
