Our organization is seeking a skilled Rotating Equipment Tech Specialist to support all of Williams’s operations across the U.S. and will be based in Tulsa, OK.


Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Operations, and SME’s to determine the health of critical equipment to insure that we are operating reliably, efficiently, and in a safe manner while maintaining the availability of our equipment at the highest possible level
  • Possess and maintain an in-depth understanding of rotating equipment and the use of remote data trends to identify, efficiently communicate, and correct equipment problems or inefficiencies.
  • Maintain and identify improvements in the Data Mining system (alarm set points, email distribution lists, etc.)
  • Maintain and own the data mining procedures, process, and standards.
  • Train Operations / Tech Services on the use of Data mining
  • Support the addition of new units to the Data Mining system (collaboration with the Asset Performance & Benchmarking group by identifying parameters, excursion setpoints, etc.)
  • Provide Tier III technical support to the field based Tier II Tech Specialists for a wide range of subjects, such as; safety concerns, emissions compliance, performance, reliability, compressor configurations, vibration, lubrication, controls, etc.
  • Develop recommendations for improving performance, reliability, utilization, and profitability
  • Lead or participate in equipment root cause failure analysis (RCFA) investigations
  • Provide training for Operations, Tech Services, E&C, and others with focus on equipment reliability and personal safety.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Engineering & Construction, Technical Services, and Operations to assist them with their projects, while also learning from them.
  • Work with Engineering to review and comment on drawings, scopes, and proposals.  Participate in factory acceptance  tests, drawing reviews, and some commissioning activities
  • Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) with research of environmental permit requirements and equipment specifications to determine compliance
  • Work with the field based Rotating Equipment Specialist and Operations team to maintain equipment operating and maintenance procedures for rotating equipment


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience, preferably in operations support, operations, or an operations support Service Company.
  • Experience with slow speed and high speed reciprocating compressors with electric motor and natural gas engine drivers
  • Experience with data mining / OSIsoft PI and identifying trend effecting reliability or efficiency.
  • Skilled at trouble shooting technical problems with recip compression.
  • Experience with turbines, centrifugal compressors, pumps, and turbo-expanders a plus, but not required


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Experience using and analyzing engine and compressor data from Windrock/CSI vibration and performance analyzers.
  • Experience with Waukesha, CAT 3500 and 3600 series natural gas engines and GERP software.
  • Experience with Ariel natural gas compressors and sizing software.
  • Experience with equipment laser alignment software and alignment in general
  • Ability to use and employ manufacturers, vendors and specialty software
  • Experience leading RCFA’s and has formal RCFA training.
  • Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS) certificate
