The Assurance Manager is accountable for leading a team of professionals and subject matter experts that help provide positive assurance to the organization associated with the execution and continuous improvement of the Williams Integrated Management System (WIMS), ad hoc assurance assessments into safety and process safety critical processes, and coordinating certain third party contracted audits. This is accomplished through assessing levels of performance, benchmarking, analyzing and identifying continuous improvement opportunities of the WIMS standards, processes, procedures and practices.  This position will help ensure that Williams is meeting or exceeding internal and external requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain and execute protocols for assurance programs
  • Through assurance assessments, identify organizational risks, trends and best practices
  • Collaborate with Operating Areas and other Stakeholders to establish and execute upon recommendations commensurate with the level of risk or applicability
  • Share learnings and best practices identified through assurance programs throughout Williams to promote a learning culture and foster continuous improvement
  • Manager a professional team in a collaborative and productive manner
  • Build effective relationships within each Operating Areas and other Stakeholders
  • Present organizational learnings and recommendations to the Senior and the Operating Area Leadership Teams
  • Develop, monitor, and report on the results of assessments
  • Develop and manage prioritized assessment plans, including communication of the plans to all levels of the organization
  • Lead and manage non-routine internal assessments in response to identified priorities
  • Engage and manage third party consultants to conduct audits and/or completing other assessment activities
  • Budget and forecast
  • Develop a strategy to monitor the company’s compliance with specific processes and regulations
     

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience in related field) with disciplines in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Process Safety or other technical discipline from accredited college or university is required.
  • Previous formal leadership experience directly managing a team is strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in the energy industry, predominantly with a broad emphasis on natural gas gathering, processing and    transmission, LPG Pipelines and offshore production transmission is preferred.
  • Experience in the EHS functional areas, such as environmental, process safety or pipeline safety, is required.
  • Experience with quality management or other assessment/assurance programs is desired.
  • General knowledge concerning industry codes, standards, and practices as well as regulatory requirements is desired
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate at various levels across organizational boundaries, and influence others without hierarchical authority is a required skill.
  • Other required skills include the ability to facilitate discussion among various stakeholders to reach agreement on solutions, collaborate with others and use their input effectively and constructively, and anticipate future consequences and trends accurately.
