Under general supervision, the Business Systems Analyst formulates and defines systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. With this knowledge, oversees/facilitates the process to develop and/or modify complex information systems. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and testing to confirm requirements are met.  Guides and advises less-experienced Business Analysts. Competent to work in some phases of systems analysis and considers the business implications of the application of technology to the business environment.  This role is a traditional Business Analyst position, but IT analyst skills are a plus.  Excellent communication skills and extensive project/program experience are a must.  Preference will be given to candidates familiar with the Oil & Gas industry. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison between the IT development group and business units for the development and implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing systems.
  • Conduct business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analyses in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.
  • Evaluates new applications and identifies systems requirements.
  • Evaluates new IT developments and evolving business requirements, and recommends appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems.
  • Prepares communications and makes presentations on system enhancements and/or alternatives.
  • Participates in or facilitates testing as needed by the business.
  • May facilitate or participate in user training.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Process management techniques - experience in drviing out process inefficiencies, process mapping, etc.
  • Business acumen
  • Working with business applications that are configurable
  • Project/program management lifecycle

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of related experience

 

Preferred

  • Business knowledge of oil & gas measurement 
  • Knowledge of Information Technologies SDLC process
  • Knowledge of Process Management (driving process definition sessions, process mapping, etc)
