Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Rotating Equipment Senior Pump Engineer to join our workforce in our Tulsa, Oklahoma location.  The primary responsibilities of this role is to provide expertise in the specification, selection, procurement, testing, and start-up of new pumps as well providing operational support for existing pumps.  This role supports Engineering & Construction, Tactical Engineering, and Operations in new applications as well as troubleshooting pump performance issues.



  • Size, select, and compare best fit options for new, modified, or replacement pump equipment.
  • Work closely with two existing Company pump technicians to develop and/or update existing Company pump specifications to reflect any lessons learned on existing pump facilities.
  • Work closely with pump technicians to develop and implement a Company-wide vibration program for new and existing pumps.
  • Provide training on pump selection, operation, and maintenance to engineers, project managers, and field personnel.
  • Working with the Data Mining group, develop reports (including alarms and shut-downs) to monitor existing pump performance.
  • Gather and evaluate installed pump additions, modifications, or replacements using historic data to ensure project goals and vendor guarantees were met.  Develop recommendations for improving performance as needed.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests, field performance tests, and commissioning activities for new pumps.
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of equipment and apply problem solving techniques to identify and correct equipment problems or inefficiencies.
  • Be aware of business and industry trends and technical advances that can be used in equipment design and selection to create a competitive advantage.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with equipment vendors, Engineering, Tactical projects, and operations.  Provide high level of pump expertise to these teams.
  • Maintain data base for all pump packages in operation at Williams.  Data includes pump size and type, drive type and horsepower, pump curves, data sheets, and gearbox type (if applicable).
  • Maintain and update vendor software used to size and select pump equipment.

  • Excellent knowledge of theoretical pump principles/fundamentals.
  • Be able to develop design conditions used to solicit quotes for pump equipment (including drives) and recommend when API-610 compliance is preferred.
  • Review, confirm/revise and vet vendor Technical Proposals for pumps.
  • Have detailed knowledge of methods and calculations used by vendors to conduct shop performance testing of pumps such that real time acceptance or revisions can be achieved.
  • Have computer experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, PowerPoint, and Excel Work products.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years engineering experience, preferably in pump applications.
  • Experience with different pump applications – from small sump pumps up to NGL transmission pipeline pumps with a solid understanding of pump requirements and how they fit with the different processing philosophies.
  • Skilled at trouble shooting technical problems with rotating equipment.
  • Experience with pump manufacturing is a plus but not mandatory.
