Williams is seeking a skilled Corrosion Engineer for our Tulsa, OK location. The Engineer will provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) level external corrosion control support for all operating areas.  The Engineer will work with the external corrosion Community of Practice and Operations support teams to create/maintain Company Standards and Procedures, to provide presentations and training, and support major external corrosion related projects including complex AC/DC interference issues.  The successful candidate must have previous experience in external corrosion control, interference monitoring and mitigation and should be able to prepare statements for reporting and analysis.  The position will be located in Tulsa but will provide company wide support.  

 

NOTE:  This position could work from one of the other Williams locations:  Salt Lake City, UT;  Pittsburgh, PA or Houston, TX.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for enterprise and local external corrosion issues, including cathodic protection design, interference, field monitoring techniques, and mitigation best practices.
  • Support review and update of AC and DC external corrosion control procedures.
  • Stay current on industry standards and changes relating to external corrosion control issues including DOT 195 and 192, NACE, PRCI and INGAA and provide guidance to corrosion control groups on implementation of needed procedural changes.
  • Perform as Williams SME AC corrosion expert. Provide significant input to engineering design standards. Standards will typically be used by third party engineering firms in the performance of AC corridor studies where pipelines will be collocated with HVAC powerlines or other AC interfering pipelines.
  • Review and approve proposals and engineering conclusions/designs for step-and-touch and corrosion mitigation. Review post-installation AC voltage and actual current density results and update standards as needed.
  • Provide training to operations and asset integrity employees.
  • Travel will be based on corrosion related problems and trainings, estimated 35% travel.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Posess Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)

  • Have at least 5 years of experience in external corrosion control.
  • Have in depth knowledge of DC corrosion control testing, mechanisms, and mitigation strategies in all soil types.
  • Have in depth knowledge of AC corrosion control testing and mitigations strategies.
  • Possess NACE Cathodic Protection Technologist (CP III) certification (required)
  • Have in depth knowledge of CFR parts 192 Natural Gas and 195 Liquid Pipeline Regulations.
  • Have working knowledge of Integrity Management rule and related integrity functions.

 

 

         

This position will be filled at the posted level and within the salary range if commensurate with the experience (i.e., skills, abilities, and knowledge) of successful candidate.  However, if unable to be filled at this level, the position may be filled with a respective competitive market, based on the experience of the selected candidate.
