Williams is a premier developer and operator of energy infrastructure in North America; one of the top gathering and processing companies in the country and a major interstate transporter of natural gas.   Our organization is seeking an energetic engineer to join our talented workforce.   This position will be a part of the Technical Services team based in Towanda, PA.  The Optimization Engineer will work with Gas Management, Producers, Project Development and Operations Staff to maintain and improve system operation through gathering, analysis, and presentation of system data. The successful candidate will perform engineering tasks and/or projects including the gathering, analyzing, and presentation of information for technical and economic decision making, collecting information, conducting site visits, and equipment and process troubleshooting.  Responsibilities will be carried out in adherence to Williams established guidelines, standards, and processes (Project Life Cycle, System Integrity Plan).





  • Gather, analyze, and present system operating data to internal and external audience.
  • Provide recommendations for optimal system operations and adjustments to be made to improve performance.
  • Understand customer needs and contractual obligations as they pertain to system performance.
  • Provide input for engineering projects based on observed trends.
  • Plant and process troubleshooting (Operations), process optimization and continuous improvement including but not limited to process simulations (HYSYS), plant operating data analysis to reduce process variation, implementation of standardized work processes, root cause analysis and incident investigation.
  • Participate in the design review and PHA of growth projects.
  • Participate in project management activities and management of change technical reviews.

  • Have advanced computer experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, PowerPoint, and Excel Work products.

A Successful Candidate Will:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent. Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office applications to include project management software (MS Project).
  • Understand industry and operating requirements. 


A Successful Candidate May:

  • Have minimum 4 years’ experience with gas gathering and processing, preferred.
  • Have experience in a customer-facing role, preferred.
  • Understand and use Hydraulic or processing simulation software, preferred.
  • Have technical knowledge and familiarity with pipeline hydraulic principles.
  • Have an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.


*This position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
