Summary and Purpose

The Williams Atlantic Gulf Eastern Interstates team is seeking an Operations Tech II to join the Louisiana-South District in Schriever, LA.  The Operations Tech maintains and/or operates all onshore and offshore pipeline facilities and their ancillary equipment (pumps, filters, instrumentation and controls, etc.), piping, valves, separators, meters, auxiliary generators, etc. in a reliable, safe, and efficient manner, and in accordance with Williams’ policies, practices, standards, and programs. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Reads, comprehends and utilizes operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Controls system operations, solves problems and coordinates his/her efforts and contractor efforts through start up, shutdown, housekeeping, safety and general operations.
  • Coordinates personal assignments (with COM assistance) to ensure continued safe and effective operation of facilities. 
  • Communicate with Gas Control to control operating pressures, flows and temperature conditions so that they stay within safe and efficient operation ranges.
  • Maintains critical operating data relating to system flows, pressures and temperatures.
  • Manage individual compliance activities.
  • Shares knowledge with fellow technicians. 
  • Actively participates in process hazard analysis, operability reviews, and design reviews for new and existing facilities.
  • Actively participates in new and existing facility commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Must be able to work outdoors; requires occasional heavy lifting and climbing.
  • Successful applicant will be required to learn all modes of operations and be qualified and willing to work onshore/offshore, work in a on-call rotation and travel by helicopter and boats to onshore/offshore locations, possibly spend some nights and weekends away from home as the job requires.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in natural gas operations & maintenance
  • Demonstration of strong mechanical knowledge and relevant experience
  • Must have specific knowledge of all related facilities. Examples: EFM, SCADA, pipeline pigging, ESD systems, valves & valve actuators, liquid injection, etc.
  • Be able to learn a complex onshore/offshore pipeline system and is able to interpret flows/pressures as a basis for decision making
  • Have experience in trouble shooting and problem solving capability
  • Computer/Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledge of PHMSA (DOT), BSEE, Coast Guard, State and Process Safety Management regulations and the regulatory applicability to the facilities
  • Experience with and understanding  of the process hazard analysis process
  • Experience with and understanding of new facility commissioning and start-up activities

 

Preferred Qualification

  • Associates Degree or discipline-specific license or certification
