Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Pipeline Integrity Engineer located in Salt Lake City, Utah who will serve as a senior technical subject matter expert supporting the Company Pipeline Crack Management Program.

 

Location could be located in Tulsa, Houston, or Salt Lake City.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and execute the Williams Stress Corrosion Crack Management Plan
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to field operations with respect to crack categorization, repair method selection, reassessment interval determination, and both short and long-term mitigation strategies to ensure safe and reliable operations
  • Evaluate and offer solutions to complex integrity issues.  
  • Research historical records to determine and establish asset material/metallurgical properties needed to support the safe operation of the assets.
  • Maintain pipeline material properties and crack databases
  • Develop and maintain stress corrosion cracking plan performance metrics
  • Provide assistance and technical advice to develop stress corrosion cracking susceptibility and risk models
  • Provide assistance and technical advice for In-line inspection with EMAT including vendor coordination, tool validation, and insitu testing
  • Continuously pursue and implement new / improved processes for the Williams Stress Corrosion Crack Management Program including evaluating and implementing new tools and repair methods, ILI pull tests, pipe materials properties testing, and anticipating characteristics that would foster crack initiation and propagation.
  • Participate in industry research projects to develop better crack management practices
  • Lead pipeline failure investigations to support Root Cause Analysis and return to service, coordinate with metallurgical labs and regulatory agencies such as PHMSA.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external requirements such as management meetings, industry association meetings, and regulatory agencies such as PHMSA.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • All duties are to be performed in accordance with Williams’ Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or Material Science.
  • 5 Years of experience in Pipeline Integrity Engineering.
  • Experience with a wide array of ILI vendors, assessments, and remediation technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, management, industry, and regulatory bodies such as PHMSA.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Engineering or Material Science. 
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 10 Years of experience in Pipeline Integrity Engineering with a focus on crack management for SCC and ERW seam (assessment and mitigation strategies).
  • Metallurgical engineering or fracture mechanics background.
  • Experience with EMAT ILI assessment.
  • Experience performing pipeline failure investigations and coordinating with metallurgical labs and PHMSA for return to service.
  • Experience performing ERW cyclic fatigue assessments, crack growth / remaining life analysis.

 

 

NOTE:  This position will be filled at the posted level and within the salary range if commensurate with the experience (i.e., skills, knowledge, & abilities) of successful candidate; however if unable to be filled at this level, the position may be filled at a level commensurate with the experience of the selected candidate.
