The GIS Analyst\Drafter II is responsible for supporting Major and Tactical Engineering & Construction (E&C) projects and Operations & Maintenance (O&M). Tasks will include, but not limited to, map making, assisting office and field employees, supporting mobile devices, modifying enterprise data sets within SDE and loading asbuilt data sets.


This particular position will have an enterprise focus with responsibility related to E&C and operational support. Candidate must be highly motivated and have the ability to deal with stressful situations on a daily basis and be willing to adapt to ever changing requests. Capable of delivering complex GIS analyses with high guidance. The position will be one that requires knowledge in Autodesk Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS.



  • Prepare, load and maintain metadata for enterprise GIS data.
  • Act as point of contact for internal customers on Drafting Design and GIS related issues.
  • Database editing\manipulation
  • Analyze and quality control Survey and GIS data
  • Develop ETL models for data conversion and geo-database loading.
  • Convert data from various sources such as GPS, Microsoft excel and Access files into spatial formats
  • Cartographic Design
  • Use ESRI products to create, verify, re-project and modify vector and raster data
  • Data Transformation
  • Ability to learn new technical skills and apply them with guidance and direction from others
  • Analyze land acquisition, environmental, survey, construction spatial deliverables and prepare for construction or operational systems
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to design plan and profiles, alignment sheets, land exhibits, site designs, create TIN’s and Surface models



  • Associates degree in either GIS, Geography, Earth Sciences, Geology\Environmental Science Design and Drafting Technology or related degree
  • 2- 4 years of professional experience required in the GIS field
  • Thorough knowledge and ability in the use of Autodesk Civil 3D. Understanding a style driven system and use of Field to Finish.
  • Thorough knowledge and ability in the use of ArcGIS and related extensions
  • Good understanding of coordinate projection systems and projection methods
  • Good understanding with the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and other administrative applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team skills complemented with a strong work ethic


Not required but preferred:

  • Knowledge of Land Surveying techniques
  • Experience working for an oil and gas, pipeline or midstream owner / operating company is preferred
  • (FME) Feature Manipulation Engine software or other scripting routines such as Python\Model builder, etc
  • Mobile applications and devices
  • Experience with remote sensing data sets (LIDAR, imagery, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Delorme XMaps 8
