Williams Northwest Pipeline business unit is seeking a highly skilled Pipeline Operations Technician in the Rangely, Colorado Area.   The primary purpose of the Operations Technician is to ensure the Northwest Pipeline’s assets are maintained and operating in a safe and reliable manner.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to adopt a workplace safety culture and place safety as your first priority.
  • Perform preventive pipeline facility maintenance and work described under the job progression system for the pipeline technician job family.
  • Responsible for the handling of natural gas as related to Clark Reciprocating Engines and Compressors.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all related subsystems which include: starting, stopping, shutdowns, and combustion controls.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of meter stations, pipeline facilities, corrosion, and right of ways (ROW).
  • Handle facility encroachment activities which include pipe location, excavation, and inspection which result from one-call notifications and/or direct calls.
  • Ensure compliance with the federal industry regulators such as the Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Health and Safety Association (OSHA) and others.
  • Interact with technical services, government agencies, emergency planning committees, emergency responders, landowners, and contractors.
  • Respond to mandatory after hour work as needed for routine on-call rotations.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year operations experience within natural gas industry
  • Must live within fifteen (15) miles of Rangely, Colorado.
  • Ability to wear safety gear, protective equipment, gloves, uniforms and other articles of safety clothing or gear as required by OSHA, DOT, and/or state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Be willing and able to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, and weekend shifts. This may require working holidays.
  • Provide the ability to work in both a team setting and as an individual with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a valid state driving license and an excellent driving record.
  • Demonstrate safety as the utmost priority.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with government agencies, landowners, and contractors.
  • Demonstrate a basic knowledge of general computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), with the ability to learn company specific software programs.
  • Be able to drive, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for long periods of time.
  • Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment and tools that could weigh up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Be able to work in environmental extremes due to weather or operating equipment.
  • Operate hand and power tools, two-way radios and climb ladders.
  • Be able to climb and work at various heights and may work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position.
  • Be able to routinely react to visual, audial and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates or 2 year Technical Degree in Electronics or a related field.
  • Two plus years of Operations experience within the natural gas industry.
