Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Rotating Equipment Technical Specialist Staff to join our workforce in our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania location. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical expertise on centrifugal compressors and gas turbine drivers for optimal equipment performance, environmental compliance, troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, repairs and maintenance planning for our operating fleet.



  • Maintain in-depth understanding of equipment and apply problem solving techniques to identify and correct equipment problems or inefficiencies
  • Assist operating areas troubleshoot and correct equipment malfunctions
  • Provide on-site technical support for projects such as complex repairs, systems retrofits and new equipment installations
  • Gather and analyze unit performance and historical data. Develop recommendations for improving performance and reliability.
  • Lead or participate in equipment root cause failure analysis investigations for equipment
  • Develop overhaul and repair recommendations and budgets for supported areas
  • Perform engine/compressor performance calculations and analysis
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Engineering, Tactical Projects and Operations to assist with projects
  • Research environmental permit requirements and equipment specifications to evaluate compliance
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and technical advances that can be leveraged to create a competitive advantage
  • Work with Operations, Facility Planners and other SMEs to determine the health of critical equipment. Insure that we are operating reliably, efficiently and in a safe manner while maintaining the availability of our equipment.
  • Work with Engineering and Construction to review and comment on drawings, scopes and proposals. Participate in factory acceptance tests, drawing reviews and commissioning activities.
  • Work with the Rotating Equipment team to maintain equipment operating procedures
  • Maintain equipment purchase specifications along with design and installation standards
  • Insure key contractors and vendors are working to meet Williams equipment needs and operational goals
  • Support Facility Planners in review of compressor design parameters used in the hydraulic models and troubleshoot compressor modeling problems. Provide Facility Planners with up to date compressor performance data for use in modeling of current and planned compression facilities.
  • Evaluate installed compression, additions, modifications and replacements options to ensure project goals and vendor guarantees are met. Develop recommendations for improving performance.
  • Maintain equipment configuration database for all assigned compressor packages


Functional/Technical Competencies:

  • Ability to mentor others through technical training and guidance on planning, scheduling, and technical subjects
  • Ability and drive to improve existing processes
  • Understand complex systems and identify potential areas of improvement
  • Technical expertise in industrial gas turbine principles
  • Technical expertise in centrifugal compressor principles
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting Solar Turbines compression packages
  • Programming Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC 5/500/5000 logic
  • Develop control guidelines to optimize facilities with multiple compressors
  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel products
  • Knowledge of Stoner hydraulic modelling and OSIsoft PI is a plus



  • Minimum of 15 years technical experience, preferably in planning, operations support or engineering / construction
  • Skilled at troubleshooting technical problems with rotating equipment
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Experience with gas gathering, processing and transmission pipeline centrifugal compression preferred
