The Northeast Technical Services team is seeking a highly skilled Manager – Tech Services to join our team in support of rotating equipment across the Operating Area in all four franchises.  The role will be located in Pittsburgh, PA, and the primary responsibility of this role is to lead a diverse group of engineers and rotating equipment specialists to properly support our Franchise Operations, Tech Services, and Engineering Services teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a team who provide Tier II support to Operations around the installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, repair, overhaul, replacement and Root Cause Failure Analysis of rotating equipment.  This position will also be drive attention to the optimization and utilization of rotating equipment by setting and evaluating meaningful, customer-centered metrics which meet the safety, compliance, reliability, availability and efficiency goals set by the Operating Area.  The position will work with the others in the organization to identify, develop and implement common Metrics, Processes, Procedures and Standards for the optimization and maintenance of our rotating equipment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of rotating equipment engineers and specialists providing Tier II services around vibration/performance testing, troubleshooting, technical support of non-routine maintenance and overhauls, and commissioning support
  • Provide technical support to:
    • Engineering Services for the successful design, execution, and commissioning of greenfield and brownfield rotating equipment assets
    • All functional departments, as part of troubleshooting, regulatory compliance, and optimization, during routine operations, start-up, and turnarounds.
  • Influence decisions that improve reliability and operability, reduce operating costs, and create a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Support the Rotating Equipment COE and Fleet Services teams in decision making and potential project development.
  • Develop metrics and implement solutions necessary to ensure rotating equipment assets are optimally utilized and functioning safely and reliably
  • Utilize computer modeling and data analysis tools to aid in the evaluation, justification, and development of solutions to problems and/or opportunities
  • Support development and implementation of consistent practices around rotating equipment configuration, optimization, and maintenance
  • Serve as a primary contact point for Engineering Services: Fleet Services, Rotating Equipment COE, Project Execution; EHS; Project Development; Safety & Operational Discipline as their technical services needs related to rotating equipment arise
  • Ensure proper use of Management of Change, Process Safety Management, Job Planning, Incident Investigation, and Optimization. 
  • Develop and maintain Process Safety Information for all rotating equipment assets
  • Support and implement audit action items, Continuous Improvement initiatives, and Process Improvement event outcomes
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal/external customers and integrate their needs into team and area goals and daily performance
  • Ensure consistent and accurate G&A and cost center budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. 
  • Develop optimum rotating equipment solutions that maximize value for the life of the asset
  • Demonstrate Williams’ Lean Leadership Standards, in word and action. 
  • Develop and coach highly performing work teams. 
  • Facilitate workforce planning and career development activities of Technical Services employees.
  • Develop Technical Services goals and ensure they are communicated and executed according to plans while ensuring the goals are aligned with and supportive of Company, Operating Area, Franchise and Operations objectives.   Assess achievement of team goals through metrics, scorecards, and periodic performance reviews. 
  • Ensure reliability targets are established, measured, and published with periodic communications to internal and external customers. 
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve tools, processes, procedures, and metrics that enable operations to optimize facility or gathering system operation, maximize reliability and safety, and control costs.

Qualifications:

A Successful Candidate Will:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related area.
  • Have 10+ years in the energy industry with a solid understanding of gas gathering compression (reciprocating and centrifugal) and drivers (electric and engine), pump and compression operations and maintenance, facilities, and commercial terms & conditions.
  • Have 5+ years of leadership experience, preferred
  • Have a working understanding of lean leadership behaviors, tools, and mindset
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Have proven experience in organizing, leading and developing a functionally and geographically diverse workforce.
  • Have experience in three of more of the following areas: Operations, Engineering/Design, Project Management, Business Development, and Construction.
