Summary and Purpose

Our organization is seeking a highly qualified GIS Analyst to work on the northeast GIS team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Reporting to the Supervisor of GIS, the primary purpose of the Analyst is to gather, maintain, and analyze spatial information to provide enterprise support utilizing Williams’ Geographic Information Systems.

 

This position will have a northeast commercial and project development focus as well as occasional project execution and operations work.  The successful candidate must be highly motivated and have the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and is comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate within bounds of confidentiality
  • Maintain proprietary acreage, pipeline, and associated data
  • Load, reference, project, and prepare data from outside providers.
  • Prepare complex, in-depth business strategy products such as maps, webmaps, and reports
  • Design and build GIS database schemas for local area needs, setup and maintain databases and connections
  • Communicate with stakeholders.  Coordinate resources and deliverables for all groups involved in commercial, project development, and strategic development
  • Interpret user needs and deliver useful GIS products
  • Follow known project management methodologies in the development of projects
  • Prepare, load, and maintain metadata for GIS data
  • Use all available resources and critical thinking to guide business decisions
  • Travel to field offices in PA, WV, OH as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in the use of ArcGIS Desktop 10.0 or higher
  • 3+ years’ experience utilizing GIS
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of industry specific pipeline, facility, well, and acreage data and data management tools
  • Proficient with cartography and cartographic design principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing to other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS or related field (Geography, Design, or Drafting Technology) preferred
  • Cartography and Data Analysis experience within the oil and gas industry preferred
  • E&P, legal, commercial, gas marketing experience or background preferred
  • Understand web-based mapping platforms and software
  • Knowledge of Google Earth
