The purpose of our technician intern program is to provide our interns with meaningful work and resources to refine their technical skills so that they may serve as a robust candidate pool utilized to meet our entry-level, full-time needs. Our organization is seeking a highly motivated cathodic protection Pipeline Integrity Intern. This position is primarily a field position and requires the physical capability of traversing rugged terrain in vehicles and on foot when required. Must be able to occasionally carry heavy loads of up to 30lbs in a field environment with the ability to conduct pipeline inspections in rough terrain. Four wheel drive vehicles are provided.



  • Recognize positive safety behavior and appropriately manage safety concerns
  • Conduct annual non-DOT cathodic protection/atmospheric surveys
  • Conduct field well insulating checks on well lines being surveyed.
  • Install portable current interrupters for IRF cathodic protection surveys
  • Perform Bi-monthly rectifier and bond inspections
  • Complete all necessary documentation
  • Ensure readings and records are in compliance with all company and regulatory requirements
  • Inspect the installation of all new cathodic protection equipment and recoat projects
  • Obtain liquid samples, pull coupons and send to laboratory as required by the Internal Corrosion Program
  • Pipeline integrity surveys which include direct assessments and close interval surveys
  • Absorb, adapt and execute additional responsibilities commensurate to the position as requested by supervisor or required by other management decisions



Basic / Required

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previously obtained a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have basic to intermediate knowledge level of Microsoft Office Applications, (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), with the ability to become proficient with all corrosion software (Data logger such as Allegro, Pipeline Compliance System (PCS) etc.)
  • High level of travel on a daily basis is required
  • Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills
  • Be able to work in both a team setting and as an individual with minimal supervision
  • Have a strong understanding of cathodic protection basics in line with NACE CP1
  • Demonstrate an intermediate knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and trigonometry
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license with an excellent driving record
  • Must be a current student in the Corrosion Technology Program at Kilgore College
