Compression Facility Design Engineer 3


Williams is a premier developer and operator of energy infrastructure in North America; one of the top gathering and processing companies in the country and a major interstate transporter of natural gas.


Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Engineer to join our workforce at our North Canton, Ohio location.  The primary responsibilities of this role are the design of grass roots compression facilities for Williams in Eastern Ohio and to provide engineering support and technical leadership for design changes to compression facilities currently in operation.  The Engineer will be providing recommendations and solutions for proposed facility and pipeline growth projects and in-service asset maintenance and reliability projects.  



  • Design compression facilities starting at project inception using company and industry standards.
  • Develop engineering deliverables including but not limited to process models, block flow and process flow diagrams, vessel, control and relief valve sizing, and creating P&IDs.
  • Provide technical support to all functional departments, as part of early design, regulatory compliance, front end planning, and project execution, throughout the project life cycle for new and modified compression facilities.
  • Lead efforts and project to improve operability, maintainability, and reliability of existing compression facilities and assets.
  • Utilize computer modeling and data analysis tools to aid in the evaluation, justification, and development of solutions to problems and/or opportunities.
  • Utilize systems & processes, and support the subject matter expert to aid in decision making and potential project development.

    A Successful Candidate Will:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Have 5+ years of design engineering experience in compression for the natural gas industry, but still acquiring higher level knowledge and capabilities.
  • Have experience in gathering pipeline and gathering compressor station operations.
  • Possess knowledge of reciprocating machinery, compressor load curves, loading tables, high speed rotating equipment, and performance maps.
  • PE license preferred
