Our Organization is seeking a highly skilled Senior Operations Technician (Automation) to be part of our Transco Pipeline staff located in Mount Laurel, NJ.  As a Sr. Operations Technician at Williams, you will be responsible for handling of natural gas equipment as it related to turbine engines, electric motors and compression along with the maintenance and troubleshooting of all related subsystems, including start/stop, safety shutdown and combustion controls.  In addition to performing operations-related duties, this person will also have automation responsibilities. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Safety is the highest priority at Williams, and a person's commitment to safe operations is a requirement for all applicants.  The ideal candidate will actively participate in safety meetings and develop knowledge in all company safety policies and industry safety standards.
  • Provide expertise in operating and maintaining all the equipment in the Neshanic Station, NJ location. This equipment includes compressor stations, regulator skids, meter stations, pipeline facilities, and right-of-way maintenance.
  • Accurately calibrate and troubleshoot all process measuring equipment.
  • Test, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot fire detection systems, fixed gas detection systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), transmitters, transducers, ESD/EBD systems, alarms and shutdown devices, pneumatic and electrical control circuits, and DC Systems including Battery Chargers.
  • Monitor, schedule and document operations and maintenance activities. 
  • Complete all assigned compliance activities by the posted due date.
  • Follow all company policy and procedures associated with job task and review each day prior to starting work.
  • Operational discipline is expected and must be incorporated while completing every job task.
  • Support local projects at our facilities.
  • Perform preventive pipeline maintenance and work described under the job progression system for the pipeline technician job family.
  • Handle facility encroachment activities including pipe location, excavation and inspection resulting from one-call notifications and/or direct calls.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems which include: Low/Medium Voltage Switchgears, Reciprocating Engines, Centrifugal Pumps, Control Valves, VFD’s, UPS, and Power Supplies etc.
  • Interface with technical support, shared services, government agencies, local emergency planning committees, emergency responders, on-call agencies, landowners, and contractors.
  • After hour work as needed and routine on-call rotations are mandatory with some out of area travel requirements.
  • Coordinate and maintain routine activities with instrumentation controls and electrical systems.
  • Be willing to present education activities, which include formal presentations.

 

Qualifications

Basic/Required

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess previous experience within the oil and gas, industrial, manufacturing or equivalent industry.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of Low & Medium Voltage Switchgears maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
  • Exhibit Basic knowledge of Instrumentation, Motor Controls, Control Loops, Distributive Control Systems (DCS), AC/DC Electrical Systems, Allen Bradley PLC’s, Etc...
  • Possess intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills.
  • Have a valid State Operators Driving License and excellent driving record.
  • Be willing and able to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, and weekend shifts.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be willing to work in extremely hot and cold temperatures, loud noises and enclosed spaces.
  • Willing and able to lift and carry items weighing 45lbs or more.
  • Have the ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for long periods of time.
  • Be able to work at elevated levels from man lifts or ladders with appropriate PPE.
  • Have the ability to work in environmental extremes while operating hand and power tools, climbing ladders, and two-way radios.
  • Demonstrate the capability to be team orientated with the ability to work well with others.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
  • Reside 30-45min from Station location

 

Preferred

  • Possess an Associates’ degree in electric/electronics instrumentation.
