Our Organization is seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist (Automation and Controls) to be part of our Ohio River Supply Hub (ORSH) Technical Services team.  As a Technical Specialist at Williams, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the day to day activities related to the commissioning, calibration, programming, troubleshooting, repair and support of Williams ORSH area automation, control and electrical systems.  Technical Specialists are also called upon to act as controls project managers, providing direction, oversight and support during construction and commissioning phases of new facilities, supporting both Engineering and Construction (E&C) project managers and Operations project managers. The Technical Specialist identifies and manages contractor resources to optimize execute and meet project deadlines. Technical Specialists support operations by providing expertise and maintaining a wide array of electrical and control equipment as described below.

 

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning, calibration, programming, troubleshooting, repair and support of Williams ORSH area automation, control and measurement systems
  • Repair and maintain compressor unit control panels, station control panels, emergency shutdown systems, HMI systems (Wonderware Archestra experience), burner management systems, custody and non-custody gas measurement equipment, PLCs (Allen Bradley), RTU's, instrumentation, process analyzers, valve actuators / positioners, VFD’s switchgear, electrical buckets, breakers and MCC gear. 
  • Provides input at Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of Control Systems, PLC's and Unit Control Panels, participate in PHA's (Process Hazard Analysis)
  • Work seamlessly with operations, maintenance, and engineering to safely operate, maintain, optimize, and improve pipeline and compressor facilities.
  • Participates in project planning and execution meetings throughout the lifecycle of the project and will work closely with commercial and customers both internal and external to ensure all customer and automation needs are met
  • Provides training and support to operations personnel on control systems
  • Works closely with Gas Control, SCADA and Gas Dispatch to ensure accurate and available data
  • Manages and documents point to point and instrument loop checks
  • Coordinates with IM/IT during new equipment installation (such as EFM and PLC) and maintains reliable data throughput to our measurement and SCADA systems
  • Be a safety advocate that advances the desired safety culture with both internal and external parties to ensure that work is done in a safe manner 

 

Functional/Technical Competencies:

  • Have strong computer experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, PowerPoint, and Excel Work products.
  • Experience programming Allen Bradley RSLogix 500 and 5000
  • Working knowledge of Wonderware System Platform
  • Familiar with DCS programming (Yokogawa)
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple complex projects with a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Possess the ability to support others through technical training and guidance on control systems
  • Have the motivation and ability to improve existing processes.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Associates degree in electrical or automation discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience in industrial electrical controls / automation
  • 2+ years’ experience in the Gas Industry
  • Experience in programming PLC and HMI systems
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to handle a diverse range of multiple, complex assignments requiring the use of experience, innovation and judgment
  • Proficient in verbal and written communications, including effective interpersonal skills

 
Preferred

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering
  • Yokogawa DCS Experience
