Our organization is seeking a highly motivated Engineer to join our Ohio River Supply Hub Tech Service team located in Moundsville, WV.  Depending on the level (Eng. II, III, or Sr), this work will require moderate to complex engineering knowledge, gas processing simulation, and pipeline hydraulic simulation.  The primary responsibility of this role is to resolve operational issue that cross operational district boundaries and provide technical support to Operations. This role will also work with the Project Development Team to ensure new expansion projects are compatible with existing assets. 

 

Engineer II Responsibility:

  • Performs technical assignments of some complexity requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.   Some technical evaluation and fundamental engineering judgment is required.
  • Develops understanding of industry and operating requirements. 
  • Prepares economic evaluations and presents recommendations.  
  • Develops proficiency in William’s standards and other company business processes that are directly applicable to assignments.

 

Engineer III Responsibility:

  • Performs a wide spectrum of moderately difficult assignments requiring technical evaluation, innovation and judgement.  Applies knowledge and experience to solve complex problems.  May be called upon to make unreviewed decisions and coordinate activities of others.  Understands industry and system requirements.  Has demonstrated ability to produce results and meet goals.
  • Works independently on mid-sized projects or technical assignments supporting operations including technical and economic evaluation, performance testing, design and construction of new facilities, or upgrading existing facilities, and research on new technology or applications.
  • May lead small, specialized teams of operations or contract personnel to identify and solve technical and project management issues.

 

Engineer Sr. Responsibility:

  • Handles a diverse range of complex assignments requiring the use of experience, innovation and judgement.  Plans and conducts work requiring independent evaluation.  Exercises substantial latitude for unreviewed decisions. Demonstrates technical expertise in a specialty, geographic area or operational function.  Applies specialized knowledge in the effective completion of major projects and/or work assignments. 
  • May direct work of other engineers and/or support staff.  Activities typically involve assignments of a specialized function or engineering discipline and include technical and economic evaluation, performance testing, design and construction of new facilities, or upgrading existing facilities, and research on new developments.

 

Function of this role (a typical system engineer):

  • Model pipeline hydraulic (gas, liquid, & two phase) computer simulators to improve pipeline operation, and resolve issues related such as pigging.    
  • Work with Project Development Team on new projects to bring local operational knowledge/experience.   
  • Work with ORSH Tech Service engineers to ensure new projects complement the existing assets. 
  • May get assignment to solve complex operational issues in a gas processing facility, liquid fractionation, or gas/ liquid gathering system.
  • Provide engineering support to ORSH Operation Center.
  • Build & maintain operational matrix that would guide us to more efficient operation.
  • Participate in facility engineering reviews, design reviews, Process Hazard Analysis, Layer of Protection Analysis, model reviews, etc.
  • Continue to gain knowledges & build abilities so that challenging problems can be resolved more effectively.
  • At times, coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to resolve complicated operational problems.
  • Influence decisions that improve reliability and operability, reduce operating costs, and create a sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Utilize systems, processes, and subject matter expert support to aid in decision making and potential project development.
  • Support Engineering Service organization by providing local knowledge and sharing past operational experience. 

 

Functional/Technical Competencies:

  • Have ability to build data analyzing tables with Power BI.
  • Has experience in Process Simulators such as VMGSim
  • Has experience in hydraulic simulation such as PIpeSim & Synergi
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Have the motivation to improve existing facility.

Experience Required:

2-4 years’ experience for an Engineer II.  Experience w/the oil and gas field or related industry preferred.

4-6 years’ experience for an Engineer III.  Experience w/ oil and gas field or related industry required.

10+ years’ experience for an Engineer Sr.  Experience w/oil and gas field or related industry required.

 

A Preferred Candidate Will: 

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • The preferred successful candidate would have in-depth knowledge of the natural gas processing and gathering, NGL Fractionation, Condensate processing and handling, etc.
  • Preferred candidate will understand industry and operating requirements around Oil & Gas Industry, and applicable codes, standards and regulations.
  • Have technical knowledge and experience around equipment such as rotating equipment, heat exchangers, process & gathering pipe, direct fired heater, process control and instrumentation, electrical power, pressurized vessel, measurement equipment.
  • Understand and use engineering modeling applications such as VMG (process simulation) and Synergi (hydraulic modeling) and economic evaluation tools.
  • Understand process safety aspects and related compliance requirements.
  • Ability to effectively manage a wide range of responsibilities largely independently involving a broad spectrum of internal customers and functional groups.
