Williams is a premier developer and operator of energy infrastructure in North America; one of the top gathering and processing companies in the country and a major interstate transporter of natural gas.

Our organization is seeking an engineer to join our talented workforce. The role of a pipeline safety engineer is to provide regulatory compliance support to operations & engineering, assist with interpreting regulations, develop strategies to allow Williams to remain compliant and serve as the Williams liaison with federal and state regulatory officials.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and interprets DOT pipeline safety regulations (49 CFR Part 190-195)
  • Reviews operating procedures and plans to ensure compliance with DOT pipeline safety regulations
  • Leads internal DOT compliance inspections and prepares summary/findings reports
  • Facilitates and supports Operations and Construction during Federal, State and internal regulatory compliance inspections
  • Reviews and approves written plans for strength tests, pipeline uprates, and management of change
  • Determines and documents MOPs/MAOPs
  • Coordinates the identification and evaluation of time independent threats with Pipeline Integrity and Operations as part of the Integrity Management Program
  • Provides pipeline safety expertise as needed for the creation of programs designed to minimize deficiencies and comply with regulations, safety management systems, etc.
  • Supports response to facility/pipeline incidents and coordinates communication and reporting to PHMSA and applicable state agencies
  • Participates in industry groups to represent Williams, as necessary
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 
  • Minimum 13 years of engineering experience
  • Deep knowledge of pipeline operations and pipeline safety regulations
  • Ability to use basic computer applications
  • Excellent oral, written and organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills to coordinate and negotiate solutions
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to instruct, analyze, evaluate, and provide technical interpretations while at the same time deal with ambiguity and maintain integrity and trust with internal and external customers

 

This position will be filled at a level commensurate with the candidate's skill and experience.

 

Preferred 

  • 6 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Knowledge and experience using GIS tools/PODS database
  • Advanced technical knowledge and experience in the design, construction, operation, maintenance, conversion of service and retirement of both high pressure gas and liquids pipelines with a proven leadership role of influencing and directing others in these tasks
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
