Williams is seeking a skilled engineer to join our team in Atlanta, GA.  We support Field Operations, E&C and Tactical Projects in all aspects.  We are looking for someone who wants to both lead and support others, as experience, workload and the situation demands.

 

This position will perform project engineering tasks, project management functions, initiate and assist with a range of complex projects, including the gathering, analyzing, and presentation of information for technical and economic decision making to support existing and plan  for new infrastructure for WGP in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.  Opportunities to assist in updates, upgrades and repairs to existing field Operations facilities will be provided.  You will deepen your knowledge of the company, customers and construction practices while performing work to support Atlantic Gulf field Operations.

 

NOTE:  Field facility visits will require up to 50% travel.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist gas transmission facilities with technical issues.
  • Review landowner, property developer and state highway DOT department plans to understand and mitigate the effects on the pipelines and other facilities.
  • Work with peers and leaders to ensure that priorities with system operations and area goals are met.
  • Perform engineering and Project Management roles on a variety of small projects.
  • Contribute to the success of projects from inception to completion, working with Operations to identify roles and responsibilities.
  • Contribute to basic engineering packages for projects including process flow diagram (PFD), piping and instrument diagram (P&ID), electric one line diagram, and major equipment list.
  • Perform work in accordance with Williams’ standards including Project Life Cycle, WilSOP and WIMS
  • Understand and apply industry standards, applicable regulatory codes and requirements, and company standards.
  • Plan, communicate, and execute in accordance with expense and capital forecasting.
  • Utilize systems, processes, and Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to aid in decision making and potential project development
  • Evaluate issues and develop solutions for operational problems.
  • Create and oversee all phases of detailed design when consultant engineering firms are utilized.

 

 Functional/Technical Competencies:

  • Experience and understanding of natural gas and its properties
  • Experience and understanding of compressor station and pipeline components – engines, compressors, piping, valves, etc.
  • Have a developed work priority system to track and complete commitments and prioritize as necessary
  • Experience with WGP’s drawing storage and GIS systems – pipeline alignment sheets, archived construction and as-built drawings
  • Have computer experience with Microsoft Office and Excel Work products.
  • Be willing to learn and use additional software products that contribute to job planning.

Qualifications:

A Successful Candidate Will:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • Have minimum of 7 years’ experience in engineering related field.
  • Understand complex systems and be able to identify potential areas of operational improvement.
  • Demonstrate success working in a team environment.
  • Have experience with gas transmission and/or pipeline compression.

 

A Successful Candidate May:

  • Have experience in onshore pipeline and compression design.
  • Understand and use engineering modeling applications and economic evaluation tools.
  • Have a PE license or a plan to obtain one.
