Summary and Purpose      

Our organization is seeking a highly qualified Outside Plant Operator to be member our Douglas, Wyoming team. Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, the primary purpose of the Operations Technician is to be responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of equipment on our natural gas gathering system within the Douglas, Wyoming Plant.  

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair natural gas gathering system equipment such as:  Dehydration Units, Separators, Amine Units, Condensate Stabilizers, Booster Pumps, Residue Compressors, Etc.…
  • Accurately maintain and complete all maintenance records, service reports, and other required documents within Williams to provide information about equipment.
  • Repair and/or rebuild valves and regulators.
  • Demonstrate proper use of personal protective gear, vehicles, tools, and equipment at all times to adhere to Williams’ safety standards.
  • Attend safety and technical training within Williams to develop and adhere to Williams’ Operations Development Plan.
  • Perform routine filter changes on various filter canisters or housings.
  • Participate in data gathering, reporting functions, and maintenance tasks at plant to optimize operational functions.
  • Work non-scheduled work hours and callout situations as needed and on a periodic basis.
  • Perform Lockout / Tagout policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively to supervisors, other employees of Williams, internal/external customers, landowners, contractors, and regulatory agencies on a consistent basis.
  • Work with Operations Specialists in performing preventative and routine maintenance on pumps, coolers, generators, air compressors, valves, and other equipment as needed.  
  • Perform basic screw pipe applications and execute work associated with approved modifications.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year experience operating, maintaining, and repairing natural gas gathering equipment, or related.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, with the ability to operate a 4x4 vehicle in difficult road conditions that can consist of ice, snow, and/or mud
  • Basic knowledge of hazards associated with working around systems and process equipment where pressurized gas is present.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to wear safety gear, protective equipment, gloves, uniforms, and other articles of safety clothing or gear as required by OSHA, DOT, or other regulatory agencies. 
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with performing preventative and routine maintenance tasks associated with natural gas gathering facilities.
  • Ability to accurately maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn and attend safety and technical training within and required by Williams’
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts
  • Be willing and able to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, and weekend shifts as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of a Personal Computer, Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and have ability to learn other company specific applications.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Process Technology, Mechanics, or related field.
  • Previous experience operating, maintaining, and repairing natural gas gathering equipment

 

Physical Requirements and Environmental Working Conditions:

  • Medium Work:  Exerting up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally and/or up to twenty (20) pounds of force frequently.
  • Climbing:  Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and /or hands and arms.
  • Stooping:  Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Consistently required to wear safety gear, protective equipment, gloves, uniforms and other articles as required by OSHA, DOT, or other required regulatory agencies. 
  • Walking:  Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Lifting:  Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • The worker is subject to extreme cold:  Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  • The worker is subject to hazards:  Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals
