Summary and Purpose

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Operations Technician II to be a member of our Douglas, Wyoming team.  Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, the Operations Technician primary purpose will be to operate and maintain our gathering compressor facilities along with some gathering measurement responsibilities.



  • Maintain dehydration equipment, pumps and methanol injection.
  • Maintain reciprocating compression equipment (Generalized maintenance)
  • Operate reciprocating compression and compressor facilities
  • Coordinate system shutdowns, (new connects, leak repair), line pressure maintenance/pigging operations, lock out/tag out, hydrate mitigation, excavation activities, and dew point monitoring and various other duties as assigned
  • Improve the reliability of the gas quality analyzers currently in use at the compressor facilites and on the pipeline system
  • Maintain and operate custody transfer measurement facilities in compliance with applicable specifications, codes, safety standards and operating procedures.
  • Maintain, operate, troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment, including; Meters, flow computers and other peripheral measurement-related devices
  • Maintains confidentialities, while demonstrating professional conduct and business ethics
  • Regularly perform a wide spectrum of non-routine, moderate to high-complexity assignments, which require technical evaluation, innovation and judgement
  • Able to make independent decisions, as well as, coordinate activates of others
  • Thoroughly understands industry and system requirements
  • Gather accurate data and completes daily reports
  • Participate and successfully complete all required training within Williams’ Operations Development Plan
  • Participate and successfully complete all assigned training
  • Maintain pipeline right-of-ways and all associated operational tasks
  • Operate, inspect and maintain high pressure pipelines, valves, regulators, and related instrumentation in compliance with associated DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Operations
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures



  • Embrace Safety and Environmental compliance as their number one priority
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as an operator within a gathering facility, and/or within the oil and gas industry.  
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing to other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions is required.
  • Knowledge of natural gas equipment including:  Pipeline Operations, Dehydration, Separation, Compression, and Measurement devices
  • Intermediate level knowledge and experience within a Gas Gathering System or similar role
  • Possess knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Good organizational and customer relations skills



  • An Associate's degree in a technical field, such as Chemistry, Gas Measurement, Electronics, etc., is preferred.  
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in measurement (volumetric, meter based measurement systems, turbine meters, Coriolis meters, ultra-sonic meters, positive displacement meters, etc.…)
  • Advanced level knowledge and experience within a gas gathering system or similar role



  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with Williams and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures due to weather conditions and operating equipment
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to use physical force to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment and tools
  • Ability to work indoor and outdoor in and/or around industrial and electrical equipment
  • Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to high levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50lbs
  • Must wear safety equipment while working, and must be able to lift and put on emergency apparatus and/or protective equipment when needed 
  • Ability to climb and work at various heights, as well as, work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position
