Summary and Purpose      

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Operations Technician III to be a member of our Big Piney, Wyoming team. Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations, the Operations Technician’s primary purpose is to ensure plant instrumentation and critical equipment devices are maintained to ensure the safe and reliable operations of our Big Piney Gas Gathering Systems.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate equipment such as:  Engines, Compressors, Motors, Pumps, and Dehydration Units.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to peers and Operation Technicians in the following areas:  Electrical Switchgears, Instrumentation, Measurement, Motor Controls, Control Loops, Distributive Control Systems, Allen Bradley PLCS, AC electrical systems and DC electrical systems. 
  • Maintain and operate gas gathering pipelines
  • Perform gauge readings such as:  Temperatures, Pressures, Concentrations, and flows.
  • Accurately record, review, and compile operations records, maintenance records, test results, service reports, and other documentation as needed.
  • Perform maintenance and operations tasks on all natural gas equipment, instrumentation and control systems
  • Troubleshoot and operate  Electronic Flow Meters (EFMs), Separation Units, Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs), Corrosion Control Equipment, Valves, and “Pigging” of pipelines. 
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems on a variety of equipment including electric driven motors, centrifugal pumps, control valves, pressure regulating valves, etc.…  
  • Embrace safety and environmental compliance as a number one priority.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Reside within a forty-five (45) minute response time to the Williams’ Big Piney location.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as an operator within a gathering system, and/or within the oil and gas industry.  
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing to other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as an individual contributor, or in a team environment.
  • Have the ability to work an eight (8) hour schedule, Monday through Friday, but be available to work in emergency “call-out” situations, and work “on-call” weekends.  These days and nights will include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to demonstrate an intermediate knowledge level of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), as well as, have the ability to learn other company computer applications as needed. 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree, Vocational, or Technical certification  is preferred
  • Four (4) or more years’ of experience as an Operator or Pipeline Technician within the oil and gas industry.


Physical Requirements and Environmental Working Conditions:

  • Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder
  • Frequently requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions to
  • Be able to work in cold, high noise, and enclosed spaces
  • Must be able to work in  very cold (below 32 F Degrees) temperatures
  • Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to high levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50lbs
  • Must wear safety equipment while working, and must be able to lift and put on emergency apparatus and/or protective equipment when needed
