Our Organization is seeking a highly skilled Operations Technician to be part of Boise District.  The successful candidate must reside in and/or around the Baker City, Oregon as a Pipeline Technician and will be responsible for operating and maintaining system facilities.  Facilities include pipelines, centrifugal and reciprocating engine/compressor sets, gas measurement for sales and receipt sites, valve sites, and auxiliary equipment.

Northwest Pipeline LLC (Northwest) is one of three (3) interstate natural gas pipelines operated by Williams. The Northwest system includes approximately 4,000 miles of natural gas pipelines and related appurtenances extending from the San Juan Basin in northwestern New Mexico and southwestern Colorado, through the states of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.




• Mechanical maintenance and repair of centrifugal and reciprocating engines and compressors, Corrosion Control.

• Maintain pipeline right-of-way.

• Perform preventive pipeline maintenance.

• Maintain and operate compressor station equipment and facilities, including compressors, ancillary equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, filters, instrumentation and controls, piping, boilers, valves, storage tanks, and etcetera).

• Maintain and operate gas measurement facilities to include calibration and trouble shooting

• Handle facility encroachment activities including pipe location, excavation and inspection resulting from one-call notifications and/or direct calls.

• Interface with technical support, shared services, government agencies, local emergency planning committees, emergency responders, one-call agencies, landowners, and contractors.

• After hours work as needed and routine on-call rotations are mandatory with some out of area travel requirements.

• Demonstrated Safety for all applicants.

• Completion of records and documentation.

• Be willing to lead education activities including formal public presentations.

• Lead Small project teams

• Oversee third Party construction activity





  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3 years experience and/or two (2) year technical degree is preferred.
  • Have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
  • Have a valid State Operators Driving License and excellent driving record.
  • Be willing to work after hours, nights, and weekend shifts and participate in on-call rotations. 
  • Be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, including out of town stays.
  • Possess adequate communication skills.
  • Participate in the Operations Development Plan (ODP) including skill based progression within the guidelines of the plan.
  • Be willing to work in extremely hot and cold temperatures, loud noises and enclosed spaces
  • Be willing to work in and certify in respirator use
  • Ability to carry and lift items that can weigh 45 lbs. or more.
  • Be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for long periods of time.
  • Be able to work in environmental extremes while operating hand and power tools, climbing ladders, and use two-way radios.
  • Independent ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Team orientated, and the ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.



  • Possess a two year technical degree or certificate in electronics, diesel/diesel-electric and/or aircraft mechanics or other applicable programs
