Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Welder to be based in Appomattox, Virginia.  The qualified candidate must possess knowledge, skills, and job related experience in order to perform tasks and assignments associated with pipeline design, construction, operations and maintenance of natural gas pipelines.



  • Safety is the highest priority at Williams, and a person's commitment to safe operations is a requirement for all applicants.  The ideal candidate will actively participate in safety meetings and develop knowledge in all company safety policies and industry safety standards
  • Perform pipe fabrication welds, tie-in welds, and welding in-service pipelines with pipe sizes up to 42” diameters
  • Complete, supervise and/or inspect projects in support of plant, pipeline, corrosion, measurement, controls, and engineering
  • Act as an inspector by monitoring contract work, and making certain that job specifications are followed
  • Interprets readings from weld inspection equipment.
  • In adherence with Williams’ standards, calculates and prepares reports.




  • Demonstrate safety as the utmost priority
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • The successful candidate will be required to test and maintain current welder certification per Williams Gas Pipeline standards, develop certified welding inspector skills and NDT certifications
  • Possess manual dexterity with the physical ability to work in situations which require bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and lifting/carrying items up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and job related experience
  • Ability to read and interpret various company policies, procedures, and manuals
  • This position requires a significant amount of overnight travel to support operation areas throughout the company, working other than normal hours, overtime, schedule changes, the ability to respond to call-outs, and work in adverse weather and extreme temperature conditions
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment, and as an individual with minimal supervision
  • Effectively interface with many landowners, regulatory officials, company contacts, co-workers, and internal and external customers



  • Possess an associate welding degree acquired through a technical school or related education
  • The ability to operate heavy equipment
